Bio
Grace Farish (b.1997) is a lens-based, interdisciplinary artist focusing on themes of love, loss, grief, and soft domestic trauma. Through the intersection of analog photographic processes and textile based work, Farish explores what intergenerational trauma does to the psyche, what home means, and how cycles of trauma affect the living. These layers of soft trauma that occur in the domestic sphere erode and eat away at the psyche. They are subtle and not widely known to us until after the fact where the compounded interest of these traumas explode and erupt from the body. Farish aims to find ways of stopping these cycles in their tracks.
Farish is a second year graduate student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, they received their BFA in Studio Art and BA in Anthropology from University of Kentucky in 2021.
